Background

I have 13 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults in Sacramento, Yolo and Solano counties, and have provided mental health services to individuals and families in diverse settings, including family service agencies, schools, health clinics and psychiatric departments.  Some of the areas that I help families address include adoption, attachment issues, relationships, behavior concerns, academic and learning concerns, school problems, sleep concerns, depression, anxiety, trauma, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, parenting, self-esteem, grieving and healing after loss. In addition to my training with children and adolescents, I have trained in different methods workings with parents and their children 0 to 5 years old. Currently, I am completing a fellowship in Infant-Parent Mental Health.  With an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a Masters degree in Social Work, my role as a therapist has been enriched by what each perspective has to offer to our understanding of the whole person in the social environment. As a bicultural and bilingual therapist, I am sensitive to the many ways in which our different systems (family, schools, institutions) affect our well-being, resiliency and resourcefulness.

I am a member of the California Marriage and Family Therapy Association as well as a member of the Sacramento Valley Chapter and Yolo-Solano Chapters of CAMFT. In addition, I am a member of the Infant Development Association of California. I currently serve in the Board for the Yolo-Solano Chapter of California Marriage and Family Therapists.

Outside of my professional roles, I enjoy being a partner, a father and a volunteer for youth programs that help children, adolescents and adults work and play together in a safe environment.
